News
Season 36 is live (duh)
Good evening!
As you've probably noticed, season 36 has started on Sunday! You can "now" play JDC matches and submit them to the website - and I'm happy to see some nice activity happening already!
Here's a couple of new developments that you maybe already know, but maybe don't, and might find interesting:
Âutomated submissions are now possible
If you're a regular at the JJ2MP leaderboards, great news: you can now submit ranked games as JDC games!
Enter your JDC user settings page and copy the unique identity token inside. Then access your JJ2MP user settings page and paste the token here:

When this is done, the JJ2MP ranked bot at the Zeal Multiplayer servers - and also Puke Nukem Arena 1 - will be able to recognize your playername as your JDC account and submit games on your behalf.
Be sure to thank SJ, A7med and Necrolyte for their hard work!
JDCE evolves into Leagues
In retrospect, JDCE was a bad name to use, and for several reasons, right? JDC is supposed to give you a lot of freedom in who you choose to play against and where, and the parallel tournament where both of those are restricted was somehow using a near identical name.
We've decided that when the parallel tournament options return this season, it will be under the name Leagues. This will also allow us to run more than one "league" at once without being even more confusing.
After the season begins, look out for more announcements on the upcoming duel league and 2vs2 league!
Duel points to be rebalanced
Speaking in general, though: expect a slightly different balance between the amount of points for winning an event and winning in duels. I know this could get confusing last season - unfortunately, we ran out of time to update the Scoring section of the website before launching (apologies). We'll let you know as soon as this is ready.
We have a new logo
Thanks to Enie.
That's all for now, enjoy season 36!
Season delayed
UPDATE: The season has now begun! Happy duelling!
Apologies to everyone, but JDC 36 will begin one week later than originally planned. There's still a lot of work that needs to be done before the season and unfortunately I've been distracted:

This also means that the logo contest will run a little longer.
Hopefully over this incoming week we'll be able to post some updates about what's coming!

Unlucky
As you may have seen, I have set this season's closing event for this Saturday, followed by a new season beginning in three weeks time (August 8th). Allow me to explain why.
I would be lying if I said this season has been our most successful so far. It started off well but it rather quickly got derailed by several issues. Some of these issues were our fault by not doing enough prep on the website, leading to weird bugs and unclarity about JDC/JDCE/etc. Not to mention Europe being hit with debilitating heatwaves and poor timing with the world cup.
The decision was made to cut this season short, take some time to regroup, and reopen JDC again, with a fresh approach for season 36. We hope to open a new season with a better user experience.
In order to ensure the best experience possible, however, what also needs to be addressed is the unacceptable behavior of certain individuals - who have determined to be disruptive to an extent we have not seen achieved in many years.
Enough has been said about "jjTurbo" and the many examples of anti-social behavior he's exhibited since last year, on J2O, on multiple Discord servers, and finally here, at JDC. He has been banned from multiple aspects of the community for being relentlessly creepy, offputting, and not even trying to behave like a well adjusted adult.
The player bee/cherrish/etc. has spent the majority of the last two months accusing a certain official of cheating in JDC events, using a "fast fire macro". He initially brought it up in a semi-reasonable manner, and while we agreed that it shouldn't be used, we also pointed out that would be difficult, if not impossible, to enforce. (This is why I decided to host the opening event with a "Blaster Reducer" mutator.)
To paraphrase what Seren has said on the JDC discord: we take cheating accusations seriously. JDC has been a stable part of the JJ2 community for over 25 years because it has been based on mutual trust. We will ban cheaters if provided with proof - this has happened numerous times in the past. Look no further than our JDC hall of fame and see that there is no winner for season 15 listed.
In the week following the opening event, cherrish had decided to escalate the initial complaint far beyond a reasonable manner. When confronted with a video explaining that there are no fast fire macros at play, he rejected the video as "not proof", began accusing the JDC staff of preferential treatment, and kept demanding explanations that were already provided to him. This led to him being banned from JDC.
Since that time, he has begun posting his own "evidence" - which amounts to vibe-based misinformation and claims that are impossible to verify. Some members of the JDC staff spent a lot of time and energy trying to reconcilliate the situation - mostly by explaining to cherrish that he is wrong, but can be reinstated as a player if he admits to being wrong. This was met only with attempts to manipulate and triangulate officials against eachother.
cherrish has since escalated his initial accusation from not one player, but three, with increasingly irrational reasons, has threatened to take Jazz2Online and JJ2+ taken offline, and has been harrassing multiple people in the game about his "situation". It's difficult for me to find other words to describe this than a complete disrespect towards the community we've built over 25 years, driven only by a pathological desire for attention and clout.
It's transparent and pathetic, and we're sick of discussing cherrish's "latest moves" every day. He and jjTurbo have tried to poison JDC as a brand and without this intervention they might have been successful. They will not be reinstated as players, full stop.
Despite everything, we are moving forward.
A Wild JDCE 35 Has Appeared!
JDCE 35 has now begun!
You can view the brackets and the current standings here.
The mappool and rules can be viewed here.
The vetoes and player map picks can be viewed here.
Could you please confirm what your 2 map vetoes are by commenting on this post, or by posting in the JDC Discord server, in the #JDCE channel. You are not obligated to veto 2 maps; you may choose to veto 1 or none.
Please note the following: as a condition of winning the Clashing Swords contest, Port Royal has been blacklisted from veto. However you are free to veto any other 2 maps from the mappool. Also please note that this restriction does not apply during the tiebreaker rounds where you "eliminate" levels one by one.
Please try to arrange your first round matches with your opponent by no later than Sunday 14th June at 23:59 CEST. If you are unable to play your match this week, please let a member of JDC staff know as soon as possible. Inactive players will be forfeited if necessary to keep the tournament moving forward.
You may have noticed all of the "Empty" player slots. As we have fewer than 16 players, some slots have been left blank. This means that up to 4 more players can still join in! If you missed the previous sign up but are still interested, please comment "in" on this post or let me know another way, and you will be able to take one the empty slots.
Assuming any of these empty player slots are left blank by the time the first round deadline comes to pass, the players in the occupied slots will automatically advance.
Good luck to you all!
